I have spent most of the day sitting in the middle of a floor sorting plastic bags filled with clothing and medical equipment. It is exciting to think of returning to Cameroon. I am very much looking forward to working at the St. Martin de Porres Hospital, where the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi have provided excellent medical care to the people of that region of Northwest Cameroon for so many years. It will be wonderful to re-connect with old friends from my last visit. My only real concern is trying to fill the shoes of Dr. Jim and Terry Hake during their short visit home. I have a feeling that my most common greeting to his patients will be, “Yes, I know I am not Dr. Hake. He will return soon!”. My professional goal is to not be too much of a disappointment to his patients.
